Harland Clarke Internet Privacy
Statement
YOUR PRIVACY IS OUR PROMISE
This Privacy Statement discloses the privacy practices of Harland Clarke
Information Collection and Use While using any of Harland Clarke’s sites (for the purposes of this Internet Privacy Statement, any
Harland Clarke site will be termed a “Site”), you (“User”) may be
required to enter non-public personal information. Your financial
institution is the owner of account holder information, which is provided
to Harland Clarke to fulfill orders for checks and other products. Harland Clarke is the sole owner of all other information collected or otherwise
noted on this Site. All information described above is confidential and
Harland Clarke will not sell, share, rent, or provide this information to
anyone for purposes other than those described in this statement.
Cookies A cookie is a piece of data stored on the User’s
computer hard drive containing information about the User. Harland Clarke’s Site is not capable of using the cookies on a User’s computer
for the purposes of identifying the User. Cookies are used only for the
purposes of storing temporary information so that, for example, the User
will only have to log in once while on Harland Clarke’s Site. Once the
User closes the browser, the cookie created while browsing the Harland Clarke Site terminates. If a User rejects the cookie by having the
function turned off in the browser settings, the User can still use Harland Clarke’s Site. In that case, though, the User may be limited in some
areas of Harland Clarke’s Site.
Log Files Harland Clarke uses IP addresses to administer the
Site, track page views and the click-through activity of links, and gather
broad information for internal use. IP addresses are not linked to
personally identifiable information. For certain applications, which have
audit requirements, a unique userid and password are necessary. In order
to ensure audit controls are enforced, Harland Clarke will log and track
the userid while on our site.
Links A Site may contain links to other sites. Please be
aware that Harland Clarke is not responsible for the privacy practices of
sites not managed or maintained by Harland Clarke. Harland Clarke
encourages Web users to always read the privacy statement of any site that
collects personally identifiable information. This Privacy Statement
applies solely to information collected by Harland Clarke.
Surveys & Contests On occasion Harland Clarke may
request information from Users through surveys. Participation in these
surveys is voluntary. Information requested may include contact
information (such as name and contact information) for the purposes of
contacting survey respondents if they have granted permission for Harland Clarke to contact them. Surveys may solicit opinions and general
information such as product preference or User satisfaction. Such
information is for Harland Clarke’s internal use only.
Security Harland Clarke’s Site is designed with numerous
precautions to protect Users’ and account holder information. User and
account holder information is appropriately protected internally as well
as online.
Sensitive information (such as a checking account number) is protected
by Secure Socket Layer encryption. While on a secure page, such as an
order form, the lock icon on the Web browser window becomes locked, rather
than open (or unlocked), such as when the User is simply “surfing” the
Web.
In addition, access to Users’ and account holder information is
restricted within Harland Clarke’s offices. Only those Harland Clarke
employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example,
Harland Clarke’s billing department or a customer service representative)
are granted access to personally identifiable information. All employees
of Harland Clarke are kept up-to-date on its security and privacy
practices. Whenever new policies are added, Harland Clarke’s employees
are notified and reminded of the importance it places on consumer privacy.
Finally, the servers in which Harland Clarke stores personally
identifiable information are kept in a secure environment, currently
certified by TruSecure®, an Internet security solutions service.
Supplemental Information Harland Clarke may use certain
nonaffiliated companies to perform services on its behalf and at its
direction, with the permission of those financial institutions with which
Harland Clarke does business, to help Harland Clarke communicate with
consumers or to help Harland Clarke offer or provide consumers with
products or services. In these instances, Harland Clarke has written
agreements that require the parties with whom it shares an account
holder’s information to keep it safe and confidential and to use it only
for the purposes specified. When entering into an agreement to provide
services to any financial institution Harland Clarke contractually agrees
with that financial institution that the User’s personally identifiable,
non-public information will not be sold or provided in any way to another
except as stated above Harland Clarke will not share that information
with any other party, including affiliates of Harland Clarke, for
purposes that are not related to providing services to those financial
institutions and/or their account holders with which it does business.
Notification of Changes If Harland Clarke should ever change
its privacy policy, such changes will be posted on www.harlandclarke.com
so that visitors to Harland Clarke’s Site are always aware of what
information is being collected, how it will be used and under what
circumstances it will be disclosed.
